Jesus Stole Christmas

My initial intent was, for the sake of controversy, to state plainly that Christmas derives only from a holiday where men would give eachother gifts, drink, fornicate, sodomize eachother, etc. – Why? Because the ensuing reaction would not only be filled with various tidbits of enlightening information, but would be hilarious, at that. (I have my moments)But! Upon much more research, said holiday involving said things only influences said modern-Christmas to a certain extent. Mainly, said traditional gift giving. Said Roman holiday, though, is actually preceeded by many other winter-solstice festivities, spreading about a wide array of cultures; none of which actually have anything to do with Jesus, as many of them were in place before he was born. Now, I’m not going to go into many specifics (because I don’t quite know them yet), but, you see, the winter solstice was celebrated (around the date of December 25th) for years upon years before Jesus’ birth. The association with Jesus is a fabricated one; the Church’s way of enticing Pagans to convert. “Hey, if you all convert, you won’t actually lose your wonderful celebration – you’ll still have it, just for different reasons.” I don’t believe the date of Jesus’ birth really has anything to do with December 25th.It’s far easier to change the meaning of an already-known symbol than establish a new one. Hitler took the swastica (a religious symbol), and, viola. (Not to imply that the church is Hitler)

So, the next time you think that Jesus was born on December 25th, and Christmas is an original holiday celebrating this, just remember:

You’re wrong.

September 29 is a widely accepted date by scholars as the actual date of Jesus’s birth.

With all do respect. It is just nice to acknowlegde that Chrits was born. It doesn’t say in the bible when his was born just that it happened. Celebrate how you would like to but in the end days all will be clear. As for my home we will worship the lord on any day at any time.

christmas was assigned around the December solistice to get the pagans on board with christianity. it was a way to get them to celebrate a holiday not their own, but they could see that it had “roots” similar to theirs & therefore easier to swallow. almost all christian holidays & feast days were originally pagan feast days or holidays.

I’m glad Chrits was born too, that guy is awesome.

Seriously though, the fact that these holidays and others, as well as many christian beliefs, rituals, etc were “borrowed” from and seen repeatedly in many faiths pre-dating christianity kind of supports the hypothesis that it’s all fabricated, doesn’t it? I mean when you can see hard evidence that the story has been re-written and re-written ad nauseum in order to achieve an explanation that better relates to the relevant period in history it sort of makes it difficult to have faith in it.

At least it does to the lesser brainwashed.
