Perhaps I am  not communicating my point clearly enough.  I think it is a lack of mutual respect for all religions and cultures combined with a lack of back bone on the part of the public school system and the government in general.

The public school system is supposed to educate the “public” not cater to the “Christians” or “Atheists” or any other specific religion or belief system.

If you allow your children to attend “Public School” then when each holiday rolls around it should be perfectly ok to teach about that holiday, learn about the traditions and music. 

What is not ok, is to get into a battle over whether its ok to teach about “Christmas” but not “Yule” because some who call themselves “Christian” consider anything that is not their brand of “Christian” to be evil. 

If you or your children attend a Public School and you are offended by a Christmas tree, then that is your own issue and the whole world shouldn’t be expected to change because YOU don’t like something.  This is a free country and you can send your kids to school elsewhere.  [Read more →]

Reminisce with me of the days where Christmas carols were not offensive, where Santa could say “Merry Christmas” and where a town funded Christmas event was viable.
