Top 17 Recipe Websites
I have been in the food-service for a very long time and I always use the web to find new recipes to try. Allot of these websites have been used to create the catering guides I use. I hope you use and enjoy them as much as I have:
- William-Sonomas website. I have used so many recipes from this website. Try the salmon dishes and one of my all time favorites in the Lobster Mango Salad. This site has great pictures of what the dish should look like. http://www.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/index.cfm?cm%5Ftype=gnav
- The Recipe Source! This is one of the first websites I ever used. It has tens of thousands of recipes including break down into countries and ethnics. Great to find authentic recipes. Originally it was called SOARS Search-able Online Archive of Recipes. http://www.recipesource.com/
- Epicurious.com! This website has so much to do. You can find recipes and articles on culinary. http://www.epicurious.com/
- AllRecipes.com! [Read more →]

How Religious People Ruin the Holidays Part II
Perhaps I am not communicating my point clearly enough. I think it is a lack of mutual respect for all religions and cultures combined with a lack of back bone on the part of the public school system and the government in general.
The public school system is supposed to educate the “public” not cater to the “Christians” or “Atheists” or any other specific religion or belief system.
If you allow your children to attend “Public School” then when each holiday rolls around it should be perfectly ok to teach about that holiday, learn about the traditions and music.
What is not ok, is to get into a battle over whether its ok to teach about “Christmas” but not “Yule” because some who call themselves “Christian” consider anything that is not their brand of “Christian” to be evil.
If you or your children attend a Public School and you are offended by a Christmas tree, then that is your own issue and the whole world shouldn’t be expected to change because YOU don’t like something. This is a free country and you can send your kids to school elsewhere. [Read more →]

How Liberal People Ruined the Holidays for the Rest of Us!
Reminisce with me of the days where Christmas carols were not offensive, where Santa could say “Merry Christmas” and where a town funded Christmas event was viable.
Further and further has the concept of ‘political correctness’ been advocated in our society as the only acceptable practice. And, although we all know there is a certain social courtesy that should be taken into consideration, what has happened has gone far passed reasonable limits. [Read more →]

How Religious People Ruined the Holidays for the Rest of Us!
When I was growing up (and it wasn’t that long ago) the holidays between Halloween all the way through Easter were my favorite times of the year. At Christmas time, I remember getting into the car with my parents and grandparents and riding around to the local towns to look at the Christmas displays on the town commons to see the beautiful lights twinkling magically in icy night air.
It is so sad that my children will never have the same experiences that I did growing up because holiday decorations, and the general spirit of good will that comes with the seasons are quickly becoming a thing of the past. [Read more →]

Top 17 Holiday Songs (by Someone Who Hates Christmas)
For as long as I can remember, I’ve absolutely loathed the mere thought of Christmas, never mind the holiday itself. I even hate Thanksgiving, for I know that the festive holiday season is right before us. In recent years, I’ve noticed how quickly the time passes between Halloween and Thanksgiving (the deathly prelude to Christmas), so I’m even beginning to get turned off to my favorite holiday of spooks and ghouls. Pretty soon, I’m just going to hate every day of the year.
Anyways, my husband calls me the “Anti-Christ of Christmas”, for he is truly Clark W. Griswold of “Christmas Vacation” fame. But I try my best to get into the season, mostly for the sake of my kids. I decorate the house, trim the tree, and even occasionally listen to a holiday song or two during the season. That’s why I decided to compile a list of my “Top 17 Holiday Songs”- for there might just be hope for me yet…
#17- ”Christmas is the Time to Say “I Love You”” – by Billy Squier: One of my faves from the early 80’s, Massachusetts native Billy Squier sings a happy song with a decent beat about spreading good cheer around the holidays. There are a lot worse songs out there.
#16- ”Christmas Wrapping” – by The Waitresses: Unique in it’s own right, The Waitresses vocalize the tale of forgetting to pick up the cranberry sauce and meeting a guy at the all-night grocery store. Kind of “rapping”, kind of “singing”, this tune gets one of my top spots for being the most original.
#15- ”The Chipmunk Song” – by The Chipmunks: Recording something spoken very slow and speeding it up never sounded so good. Whoda thought that these guys would have been as big as they are. I wish I had a hula-hoop too, Alvin. But that’s why we have Christmas.

Conspiracy I: The Moon Landing
This, I think, will be my first giving to you, the reader, a short piece on a few popular conspiracies. In no way, at all, is any of the information presented in these (unless I state otherwise) something of my own doing. It’s all taken, and compiled, from various websites. I take no credit.
—–
We’ve all been lead to believe that man first landed on the moon on July 20th, 1969. Now, although we may have that kind of technology in current times, was it really possible to do such a thing back then? Or was it completely fake? – A hoax meant only to prove the Russians wrong or to take America’s weary mind off of things.
