Think back to the early 1800′s and Same Sex Marriage is not even a thought.  Hell, you would probably be shot if you mentioned you wanted to get married to someone of the same sex.  You would probably be lobotomized or put in a mental institution.  Were their gays back then?  Did they have rights? No, no rights for crazy people in society.  The evolution of society is amazing.
