The Evolution Of America: Same Sex Marriage
Think back to the early 1800’s and Same Sex Marriage is not even a thought. Hell, you would probably be shot if you mentioned you wanted to get married to someone of the same sex. You would probably be lobotomized or put in a mental institution. Were their gays back then? Did they have rights? No, no rights for crazy people in society. The evolution of society is amazing.
Why did the thought of same sex marriage even exist back then? I can answer that: Organized Religion. Society was based solely on religious teachings. Think of the Salem witch trials for example. This will be a bold statement but hey it’s my article: “As Science slowly destroys the Catholic Church”, people become more educated. What the hell are you talking about you say? How about Evolution? That is another article for the future. I digress!
As the American society becomes more educated they have realized the error in their ways. Think about Slavery and how the Americans treated these people. Slaves were property! Hell didn’t American society slowly evolve into understanding that this was barbaric and freed the slaves? But unfortunately Evolution is slow and the treatment and lack of equal rights of blacks in the United States didn’t change until recently. I am not getting into the Slavery issue in this article. My point is that Americans slowly evolved and educated themselves into realizing that Slavery was wrong. If are forefathers did not evolve who knows what the USA would be like today? Would slavery still be legal?
Now to my point! The thought of Same Sex Marriage was unheard of 50 years ago yet slowly now in 2009 there are a few states that legalized it. Why do we continue to fight this issue? It is a fight that will slowly be lost. I am not saying I agree with same sex Marriage because my background, taught by my religion, is that marriage is between and man and a woman. But I also realize that this issue in another 10 years will not be an issue. All states will recognize Same Sex Marriage. Why do we continue to waste time and breathe on a issue that slowly all Americans will recognize as the law? This is a done deal American let’s spend our time on other issues to help Evolve America.

Marriage is a religious tradition. The government should not be involved in this act. The government should only conduct civil ceremonies guaranteeing rights for couples of any kind. If people want to add religious symbolism, fine just don’t cram it down everyones throat.
i believe you are totally wrong. First off evolution is an assumed theory, you are talking about it like it is a proven fact. second not everyone thought that slavery was ok, and slaves were rarely treated wrongly, thirdly evolution is suppose to change physically, not mentally.
you may be able to accept that you came from a dumb beast, but as for me, i was created by an omnipotent God who loves me and sent his son to die in my place. God created the heavens and the earth and all who dwells therein. Please humble yourself and recognize the one who made you.

I guess enlightenment will take you to multiple partners and even creatures. I won’t tell someone who they can’t relate to or how, but I won’t call it marriage. I am a college grad, so I’m not dumb (a Home Ec/Family Studies major). And I’m smart enough to know something works the way it was meant to be fit together and I don’t think putting a part of our body into a dirty canal is the way God meant it to be used. I don’t like tattoos either. And I’m smart enough to know vampires are just sickos like the guys that say they are Jesus Christ. And I certainly don’t want to have a romance with such a sicko even if he is cute. I personally think Edward has a bad hair day going. And I like my guys with a little tan. Whatever. Midge
