Baseball Bats Should Be Illegal!
Ok it’s official. The Louisville Slugger Company had to pay $850,000 to a family who’s child was killed due to being hit with a ball from one of their bats. Here is what was said from Montana’sNewsStation.com
A Helena District Court jury has awarded actual damages of $850,000 to the family of Miles City American Legion baseball player Brandon Patch, who died six years ago when he was hit in the head with a baseball hit off an aluminum bat.The jury’s verdict was pronounced late on Wedensday against Hillerich & Bradsby for failure to place warnings on the product. However, the jury decided the product was not defective.Debbie Patch sued Hillerich & Bradsby, the makers of Louisville Slugger baseball bats, claiming the company manufactured an unreasonably dangerous product. Patch’s attorney Joe White had argued the bat in question has a defective design because it can hit a ball so fast you can’t see it. Attorneys for Hillerich & Bradsby argued the death of Brandon Patch was an unfortunate accident that could have occurred using any of several different bats. Helena District Judge Kathy Seeley presided over the case.
So what does this mean? Outlaw Baseball? I played baseball when I was a kid got hit in the eyeball with a ball hit from a bat. I should have sued everyone! I want to know what everyone thinks!
