Baseball Bats Should Be Illegal!
Ok it’s official. The Louisville Slugger Company had to pay $850,000 to a family who’s child was killed due to being hit with a ball from one of their bats. Here is what was said from Montana’sNewsStation.com
A Helena District Court jury has awarded actual damages of $850,000 to the family of Miles City American Legion baseball player Brandon Patch, who died six years ago when he was hit in the head with a baseball hit off an aluminum bat.The jury’s verdict was pronounced late on Wedensday against Hillerich & Bradsby for failure to place warnings on the product. However, the jury decided the product was not defective.Debbie Patch sued Hillerich & Bradsby, the makers of Louisville Slugger baseball bats, claiming the company manufactured an unreasonably dangerous product. Patch’s attorney Joe White had argued the bat in question has a defective design because it can hit a ball so fast you can’t see it. Attorneys for Hillerich & Bradsby argued the death of Brandon Patch was an unfortunate accident that could have occurred using any of several different bats. Helena District Judge Kathy Seeley presided over the case.
So what does this mean? Outlaw Baseball? I played baseball when I was a kid got hit in the eyeball with a ball hit from a bat. I should have sued everyone! I want to know what everyone thinks!

Absolutely ridiculous. I’m less annoyed by the family’s lawsuit as I am with the judge that presided over the case. If I was Hillerich & Bradsby i would sue Helena District for putting the mentally challenged Kathy Seeley on the bench.
It’s a sad commentary on the state of our legal system. I’m sorry this family lost a child in a tragic accident. But that was what it was, an accident, no malicious, no defective product, just a horrible accident. Sadly, the money won’t heal their pain over the lost of their child.
It seems as though it has become the American way, to sue any
thing or any one, as long as there is a monitory advantage involved…..The cup of hot coffee that was spilled on the lap of a McDonald’s customer…..sued and won…would you have ever thought of suing for something like that, I don’t think so….
I wouldn’t have……..
Your country has gone nuts
There is nothing sane about that — it makes a mockery of justice and common sense.
