New Wine Tasting

The five steps of new wine tasting for the beginner

Before we give these I would like to bring to the reasoning behind this I am a blue collar worker and a biker but enjoy the finer wines out on the market. Not to stereo type anyone but it has been my experience around friends and other bikers that wine tasting is for the upper class of people. I strongly disagree with this idea because I think anyone who is willing to try should enjoy the fruits of the grape and what it brings. There are several books out on the market in book stores now covering this subject. Here are three to start with.

1. Michael Broadbent’s Wine Tasting

2. Jancis Robinson Tasting Pleasure

3. Stuart Walton’s Cooks Encyclopedia of Wine

These are excellent resources to check out at your local library or on the Internet. The more you educate yourself the more you know and that goes for anything. The local supermarket I shop, has an selection of wines at very resonable prices. I wish I had a wine cellar to stock but I don’t and really it is not my style maybe some day. The point is if you shop around and know ahead of what you like then you can find some really good deals out there. The following are five basic tips to enjoy New Wine Tasting.

1. The appearance of the Wine in the glass take a couple minutes and admire the color.

2. The aroma or smell of the wine, swirl the glass around this allows more oxygen and releases the different scents

3. The taste of the wine can you pick out the different flavors such as it might have a smoky or spice in it.

4. The finish of the wine does it have a pleasant after taste some Merlots I have tried have a silky finish

5. Take at look at the bottle I like to do the following A. What kind of grapes. B. What year was it bottled. C. Would you recommend it to others. D. Have fun and enjoy.
