What If There is Only One Religion Worthy of Our Support?

Let’s own up to it. Everyone in this whole world is religious. Even the atheist is religious. His religion is humanism.

There are many religions in the world. Some are worldwide while others are regional. There are 10 major religions in the world today. They are either monotheistic, polytheistic or pantheistic. The monotheistic religions worship one God. The polytheistic religions worship many gods. The pantheistic religions worship everything as god. Note: The atheistic religion is pantheistic. Some religions are based on fables/mythologies or sayings of their “wise” men. Some religions are based on historical facts.

There are two ways to approach God. Two religions have God reaching down to us. The other religions have people reaching up to God. One religion restores a person from within. The other religions seeks to dress up the outside. One religion brings people into a loving, personal relationship with their Creator-Redeemer God. The other religions go through rituals to find God’s favor. One religion is not a true religion, in that it does not need rituals to find favor with God.

We can use the process of elimination to come to the religion worthy of our support.

1. We need a religion that is based on facts, not fables or mythological figures. The Jewish and Christian religions would fit this category. Their histories are backed up with archaeological evidence. These two religions are historically accurate.

2. We need a religion that is for everyone. A regional religion will not do. A national religion will not work. The Christian religion is the only one that is all inclusive.

3. We need a religion that had a leader that served as a role model for all of us to follow. Jesus, Who is the founder of the Christian religion, serves as a role model all of us can safely follow.

4. We need a religion that changes a person from the inside out. The Christian religion is such a religion.

5. We need a religion that has God reaching down to us. The Christian religion is such a religion. God reached down to us by sending His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be our “Good Shepherd” to lead us to Himself.

6. We need a religion that is easy to follow. Again, the Christian religion is such a one. It is us turning from our sins into the arms of our loving Creator-Redeemer God.

7. We need a religion that gives us an eternal hope. Christianity does this.

The Christian’s New Testament Bible is the New Covenant promised to the Jewish people in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Isaiah 53. Read the Books of Romans and Hebrews in the Christian New Testament to understand this better. The Christian accepts the Jewish Bible as the inspired Word of God. This is the reason we refer to the Bible as having an Old Testament and a New Testament. We consider both are equally inspired by God. The Jewish people are still God’s chosen people. The Christian religion is not a true religion. It stands out as God drawing us into a friendly relationship with Himself. Without His coming to us, we would be hopelessly lost in our vain striving to appease Him.
