Fat People Have More Privileges?

  Mayra Lizbeth Rosales

So this has been a subject that seems to come up at lunchtime during work.  Imagine a bunch of jerks (me and other fellow managers) figuring out how fat (not mildly fat but enormous fat)do certain things in their life.  Actually to be serious its sad what we do see.  I am by no means a small man but I admit it is my own fault.  I am trying as I write this to diet.  I want to lose at least 50 lbs.   As always I degress…so we once saw a huge, probably 500lbs man, on a motorized skooter and we said to ourselves “Holy Shit!”.  He was so big he had small arms!  I am by no means making fun of this man.  I do realize this is a disease and he needs help but [Read more →]

The World Of Rednecks

I have so many pictures of Rednecks from emails and surfing the web.  I had to put the top 17 together.  These are so funny it makes me throw up in my mouth….  I apologize if I don’t give the website proper credit because most of these I received via emails.

  1. Redneck Mansion Redneck Mansion:  I don’t care who you are that is damn nice.  I like it because its airy-and gives enough privacy.  Little worried about a tornado, but that’s what masc-in tape is for, right?  Found this one via email.
  2. redneck swimming pool Redneck Swimming Pool:  Why do you need to dig a hole when you have a perfectly good truck bed sitting in your front yard? This man is a genius…. Found this one via email.

Inbreeding In The Iraqi Culture….

 Inbreeding

I came across and incredible article about the Muslim culture and specifically Iraq.  The article that was written by Steve Sailer.  The original article is called ”The Cousin Marriage Conundrum”.  This eye opening writing brings to light that America will have more problems in democratizing Iraq.  We simply do not understand their culture.  We will not accept their culture.  The surprising degree of inbreeding in Iraq could interfere with our nation’s rebuilding ambitions.

Nearly half of all married couples are first or second cousins to each other.  A 1986 study of 4500 married hospital patients and staff in Baghdad found that [Read more →]

Types Of Religious Organizations

Sect

There are hundreds of different religious organizations found in the United States.  There are churches at one end of the spectrum and sects at the other.  But what are the differences:

  • Church:  Is a type of religious organization that is well integrated into the larger society.  Church-like organizations usually persist for centuries and include generations of the same families.  Churches have well established rules and regulations and expect their leaders to be formally trained and ordained.  A church may operate with or apart from the state.  A state church is a church formally allied with the state, as illustrated by Islam in Morocco.  A denomination, by contrast, is a church, independent of the state, that accepts religious pluralism.  The United States, which has dozens of Christian denominations including Catholics, Baptists, Methodists and Lutherans, as well as various categories of Judaism, Islam and other traditions.  Members of a denomination hold to their own beliefs, but [Read more →]

Theories Of Prejudice

 prejudice

What are the reasons for prejudice people?  Is it frustration?  Personality conflicts? Cultural Conflicts?  Social Conflicts?….or are people just ignorant?  Let’s look at the theories that social scientists have suggested:

  • Scapegoat Theory:  This prejudice springs from frustration among people who are themselves disadvantaged (Dollard, 1939).  Let’s define scapegoat:  a person or category of people typically with little power, whom people unfairly blame for their own troubles.  Have you ever seen this happen?  Think of a low wage person blaming the presence of minority workers at their job instead of the powerful people who operate the establishment.
  • Authoritarian Personality Theory:  According to T.W. Adorno et al. (1950), extreme prejudice is a personality trait in certain individuals.  This conclusion is supported by research showing that people who display strong prejudice toward one minority usually are intolerant of all minorities.  These people look upon society as naturally competitive and hierarchical, with “better” people (like them) inevitably dominating those who are weaker.
  • Culture Theory:  This theory says that extreme prejudice may be characteristic of certain people, but some prejudice is found in everyone because it is embedded in culture.  Think of a child growing up and their parents telling them they should marry from the same ethnic group.

What Is Feminism

 feminism

Feminism is defined as the advocacy of social equality for men and women, in opposition to patriarchy and sexism.

The first wave of the feminist movement in the United States began in the 1840′s as women opposed to slavery, including Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, drew parallels between the oppression of African Americans and the oppression of women.  The Seneca Falls convention began the social movement by which women finally won the right to vote in 1920. But other disadvantages persisted, and a second wave of feminism arose in the 1960′s and continues today.

The Basic Feminist Ideas:

  1. The Importance Of Change:  Feminist thinking is decidedly political.  They think ideas to action.  It is critical of a status quo and advocates change toward social equality for women and men.
  2. Expanding Human Choice:  Feminists maintain that cultural conceptions of gender divide the full range of human qualities into two opposing and limited spheres:  the female world of emotions and cooperation and the male world of rationality and competition.  As an alternative, feminists propose a “reintegration of humanity” by which each person develops all human traits (French, 1985).
  3. Eliminating Gender Stratification:  Feminism opposes laws and cultural norms that [Read more →]

Degrees of Homosexuality (and a complaint about the Media)

 Homosexuality

A warning to all easily offended homosexuals, you may not like this post.

Now homosexuality is not so clear as many people think.  Homosexual males are not just sissy boys who like to cross dress.  There are varrying degrees on how gay some one is.  It can be broken down into the following categories:  normal guy who just happens to like other guys, “wanna be upper class” gay guy, the “must have super pride” homo, the emo, and the fairy.  To make sure you all are classifying you’re homosexuals correctly I will provide a description of each, [Read more →]
