Recommendations For a Christmas Full of Great Music
It is without much room for doubt, safe to say that no other holiday (religious or secular), or day of the year or time of which has so much in the way of music dedicated to it; as does Christmas. This in a tradition that goes back through the centuries as far as the middle ages. However it was during the years of the reformation that a lot of the music connected to Christmas was banned as was the celebrating of Christmas itself. This being caused by the believe of those [Read more →]

Blue Man Group CD Review – The World’s Biggest Art Performance Group Breaks New Ground
If you’ve never seen the Blue Man Group and you’re wondering what’s the deal with these strange blue dancing guys, the answer is not as simple as one might think. Yes, the Blue Men are an international show sensation with long-running sell-out shows in New York, Chicago, Boston, Orlando, and elsewhere, but they also provide a sophisticated art experience. While entertaining you with amazing skits and dances, huge music, and mind-blowing video exhibits, they also work hard to make you think. With their unusual show, they satirize high culture, low culture, and everything in between.
But if you’re still not sure if this is something you would enjoy, you might want to give the Blue Man [Read more →]

The Adventures of Bobby Ray – Album Review
In a time when great music is fleeting, and albums have just one good song, this rap album by B.o.B, also known as Bobby Ray, is a joy. The album might just signal that we have a new rap star on the horizon.
Many people often complain about rap music. They will tell you that it is just someone speaking, or hollering, obscenities into a microphone. They will also tell you that these people-these MCs-are not really artists. Well, these people might just change their mind with a listen to the adventures of Bobby Ray.
So, just who is Bobby Ray, or B.o.B as he is known? Well, he hails from North Carolina and is just 21 years of age. However, his age does not seem to detract him from making great music or having the biggies in the industry accompany him on his first effort. On this [Read more →]

Corinne Bailey Rae – The Sea Review
Perhaps the best way to describe Corinne Bailey Rae is “above average.” She has an above average voice, backed by above average music. Her last album, eponymously titled, was above average. So is this one. If you’re looking for greatness, look somewhere else.
However, if Rae does have a gift, it’s that she knows exactly how to take advantage of what talent she does have. She is to R&B what Nora Jones is to pop music; a moderately talented, personable singer makes very good background music.
On The Sea, Rae doesn’t drift far from her previous [Read more →]

Movies With Heroes Music Review
Listening to the Pennsylvanians “Movies with Heroes” album is like a retro trip back to college. Back when 91X made the radio good. Of course 91X rarely does it these days. This album makes you want to go out with your friends, have some drinks, turn up the radio and drive fast. “Nothing” is a single that could be playing on 91X today
The Robert Smith/Cure comparison, most obvious on “Ink” is very fair and also makes you think of earlier days. The guitar plays with the melodies of the singing and the songs are mainly anthems and straight, solid pieces, with lifting choruses and a “Granddaddy” noise emanating here and there.
This 5 piece make tight numbers, all are less than 5 minutes. This album was mixed by Ed Rose. Release date of March 28, 2006.
The record mellows out a little towards the end and gives you a little breathing room with the sweet “Moth and Rust”. The bells at the beginning remind you of who you are. You can hear some more modern sounds with some nice keys, guitars and computer sounds. The voice is relaxed [Read more →]

Great Music Reviews
It’s not easy finding good music reviews nowadays, especially with the proliferation of blogs and websites where anyone who is anyone can pipe up with their two cents worth of knowledge about whatever they want to say about the latest Ting Tings B-side…however, you should not give up hope. There are still great music reviews out there, you just have to search a little harder to find them, among the ether of sub-standard sites and webpages.
