Growing Up Paranormal
If I were to turn on the television, chances would be good that I would be able to find a show that dealt with the paranormal, supernatural, or occult in some way. Chances would also be good that once finding said show that I would stop flipping through the channels and watch it. Most of my favorite shows are based on some aspect of paranormal phenomenon. Though I’d also say that my reasons for watching any paranormally based show might be slightly different than the average person.
There is a current trend of paranormal obsession in the media. Yet while millions of people are enthralled by the prospect of paranormal activity, I would be willing to bet that most people are more than perfectly happy with it being restricted to the television. This isn’t to say that there aren’t millions of adoring fans writing in to these shows on their Myspace pages and forums stating how many ghosts they’ve seen or how their house is haunted, but when it comes down to actually dealing with paranormal activity on a personal level it is still met with extreme resistance. We are more than willing to allow somebody with a camera and a television into our homes to search for evidence than we are willing to believe that our best friend, or even our self, is psychic or paranormally inclined in some way. Top 17 Horror Movies Of All Time
They are in no particular order. My suggestion if you have not seen them is to buy or rent them!
- 1975 Jaws: I was 6 years old and my mom would not let me see this one. But once I did, I was freaked in the ocean. Jaws is regarded as a watershed film in motion picture history, the father of the summer blockbuster movie and one of the first “high concept” films. Jaws is a 1975 thriller/horror film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Peter Benchley’s best-selling novel, which in turn was inspired by the Jersey Shore shark attacks of 1916. The police chief of Amity Island, a fictional summer resort town, tries to protect beachgoers from a great white shark by closing the beach, only to be overruled by the town council, which wants the beach to remain open to draw a profit from tourists during the summer season. After several attacks, the police chief enlists the help of a marine biologist and a professional shark hunter.
- The Exorcist is a 1973 American horror film, adapted from the 1971 novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty, dealing with the demonic possession of a young girl, and her mother’s desperate attempts to win back her daughter through an exorcism conducted by two priests. Both the film and novel took inspirations from a documented exorcism in 1949, performed on a 14-year-old boy. This film I still have nightmares about.

The History of the Jack O Lantern
I never knew the history of the Jack O’ Lantern but it’s one of the most interesting histories I ever looked into. As you read this think about what happens when you put yours outside your home….
A jack-o’-lantern (sometimes also spelled Jack O’Lantern) is typically a carved pumpkin. It is associated chiefly with the holiday Halloween, and was named after the phenomenon of strange light flickering over peat bogs, called ignis fatuus or jack-o’-lantern. In a jack-o’-lantern, typically the top is cut off, and the inside flesh then scooped out; an image, usually a monstrous face, is carved onto the outside surface, and the lid replaced. At night a light (commonly a candle) is placed inside to illuminate the effect. The term is not particularly common outside North America, although the practice of carving lanterns for Halloween is.
Sections of the pumpkin are cut out to make a design, often depicting [Read more →]

The History Of Halloween!
Halloween, or Hallowe’en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting “haunted houses”, carving Jack-o’-lanterns, reading scary stories and watching horror movies. Irish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several countries of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland (where it originated), the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and occasionally in parts of Australia.
A tradition for my family is to go to Salem Massachusetts and enjoy the Haunted Happenings! We begin early in the day and [Read more →]

Men In Black: Real or Not?
While looking up information on strange creatures and UFO’s they keep bringing up the MEN IN BLACK. Why do these people dressed in black suits always show up in places that a supernatural occurance happens? My previous article about Mothman even had them. I love the Men In Black movies but is that a true part of the American history with just a scifi spin on it to make it a box office smash or are they true? Are they really aliens? How about some more information? [Read more →]
