The Fear in Religion
Fear of the new or the unknown, is the crippling force that is holding humanity back from moving to its next period of evolution. It is self evident that 84% of the world’s population is not ready for the move.
Only 16% of the world has an alternative view from religion – they are the free thinkers who have chosen to think outside the box. It is this 16% who do not live in fear within religion that will move humanity out of the box it now finds itself in. Religion does not tolerate outside views, and it is religion that has kept humanity chained to the fear of leaving it – “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.” Humanity has a need to believe in something, and religion [Read more →]

Definition of Christian Science
His weeping and trembling were honest, and to be expected. The man was not sniveling. He made great effort not to let the sobs become uncontrollable. His effort failed. Flowing from the depth of crushing stress and sorrow, the crying would not stop. Barely audible, he asked, “Kleenex please.” Three facial tissues and a bandanna quickly appeared. “Thank you,” the man said. And he meant it. After wiping his eyes and nose, feeling the surrounding encouragement, the sobbing eventually eased. The man’s heart calmed.
Words convey ideas and provide a venue for communication. Words, though, can have different meanings to different people. But, when push comes to shove, the idea of, “something to wipe my face and nose with,” is communicated and understood. In the fictitious account given above, the people’s minds did [Read more →]

How to Start Your Own Religion
Religions are all over the earth. We have book-based religions (such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam and cultic versions such as Mormonism, Armstrongism etc.), man-based (such as ideological belief systems, not necessarily claiming religious authority but perhaps a more mental reason – many self-help ideologies are centered around this) and others are nature-based. There are numerous sub-groups to these major groups.
What is it about religion that attracts us? Many of them are isolationist in nature. Christians don’t like Jews, and others don’t like Muslims. Some can’t stand buddhists – and on and on it goes. People drive one another to hate and division in the name of religion. They want to be “in the right”, and for them to be that they have to isolate people out of their “in club.”
Religion Was Supposed to Unite
Many believe religion was supposed to unite people, yet religions have caused the exact opposite to happen [Read more →]

Originally Broadcast Nov 2001
The fourth Thursday in November is called Thanksgiving Day in the USA. Whether you live here or not, are you going through a tough time this Thanksgiving? Aside from all the international unrest, are you finding it hard to find anything to be thankful about in the midst of your own life? If so, maybe this message will minister to you.
Did you know it wasn’t until the American Civil War (1861-1865) that Congress officially recognized Thanksgiving Day? Even though it all began over 200 years earlier in the Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts, 1621. The Separatists (it was much later when they became known as “Pilgrims”), who founded Plymouth Colony in 1620, ignored most holidays. In fact, they recognized [Read more →]

The Big Questions: Religion
So what makes the Biblical religion or the Christian religion or the Old Testament religion the be all and end all of true religion and associated religious deities for the multitudes? I mean there is as much written and archaeological evidence for the existence of Thor, Zeus, Odin, Apollo, Ares, Athena, et al. as there is for God. No longer are people devoting believers in the religions and associated gods of ancient Rome, Greece, or the Norse countries – why? The arguments for those religions and their existence were so weak as to be unsustainable. So, why not go one religion and one God further?
There have probably been more wars, deaths, executions, murders, torture, crime and suffering in [Read more →]

Religion and Fanaticism
26/11 Mumbai was under siege, some 20 odd young men brandishing AK 47 rifles went on a killing spree at a busy railway station, and five stars hotels killing hundreds. This incident brings back memories of the now infamous 9/11 where a handful of highly motivated, misguided souls took controls of aircrafts and banged into the World Trade Center destroying it completely and killing thousands. These incidents again make us realize how susceptible we are in the face of such terror activities, where a group of highly trained and motivated people inflict so much pain and agony to the innocents. The very fact that the actors who perpetrate these acts are ready to die makes them more dangerous, because the very fear of death, the ultimate fear, itself is absent from their psyche and hence they can go to any extent to inflict terror [Read more →]

Gay Marriages and Wedding Rings
“The soul is a circle.” -Plato
Plato made this statement many centuries ago, but its significance is just as profound today when you think of it in relation to the wedding ring. Probably no other ring ever created has been surrounded with as much folklore and tradition as the ring that unites the hearts of two people. Gay marriages and wedding rings both represent the magic of love and freedom. Once this magical spark has been lit, love naturally evolves into commitment pledged with a wedding ring.
For two people who want to exchange vows of devotion [Read more →]
